Equality admits to committing serious crimes, why does he not feel shame? Why does he feel peace?

Equality has begun to think for himself and as he has discovered his own potential, he feels more self-confident and not right for the low class job he has been assigned.  The crimes he has committed are against the society and are thus defined by the dystopian universe that Equality finds himself living in.
