Equality 7-2521 realizes that the only time he was ever a real person was when he was involved in his sins and transgressions. He discovers the term "I" is truth. People needed individual identities. He weeps over what has been lost and tells the Golden One about his feelings. She says "I love you". Equality 7-2521 decides they must have names. He calls himself Prometheus (the man who brings light to a dark world) and calls the Golden One Gaea (earth goddess). "Prometheus" feels that his sins were actually an attempt to bring light to his dark world. The world found his struggle for new ideas a symptom of individuality. Perhaps they were right but now Prometheus feels that sin and transgression are the only way to truth. He never felt guilty because he was doing what he always should have been doing, bringing truth and light to the world.
