Anthem
What has happened to the concept of romantic love in this society? What about familial love? What might be some social and/ or emotional repercussion of this?

Children were brought up by the state which pretty much destroyed any family unit. Children are born each winter, but women never see their children and children never see their mother. Sexually mature men must show up to The Place for Mating to produce an offspring. Partners are chosen for them. Not terribly romantic, is it? The repercussions of this is that individual bonds between people, including babies, are severed. There is no natural love, fidelity, or affection. Society becomes this loveless emotionally stunted collection of drones at the mercy of the state.
