What’s the significant of the light?

This particular dystopian-era is like the Dark Ages where any light, even candle light, can mean hope. The windows and light in the house symbolize a different time when the light of knowledge could flow through buildings and people. The light of nature could also illuminate ignorance and free the mind. In an extended metaphor Liberty 5-3000 becomes the Golden One, and Equality 7-2521 becomes Prometheus, the bringer of light.
