Charley is a father figure to Buddy. He pushes buddy to be somebody. He doses out some tough love to keep Buddy on the road to success. Although misguided at times, he slaps Buddy with a dishrag to cure his stutter, Charley sacrifices everything to get Buddy to where he ended up.
