I really liked Mama the best. She had a sort of intrinsic dignity to her. Despite her daughter Dee humiliating her, Mama bears these insults with patience and grace. When it comes time for her to make a decision about the quilts, she is direct and honest. Moma stands up for Maggie when nobody else will. She does what she needs to do without honestly with little confrontation.
