7.  Can you please explain the following statement:   "THE MARSHALL PLAN SAVED WESTERN EUROPE FROM BEING ABSORBED INTO THE SOVIET BLOC."

The Western countries that participated in the Marshall Plan could no longer protect themselves economically. For these countries to fail would have meant communism could have moved in, and the Soviet Union would have absorbed them into their ever-growing borders.
