The crops were unusually free of deviations that season. This meant that farmers did not have to destroy their harvests. This put people in a better mood. Old Jacob, who is usually pessimistic, admitted, “Merciful, the Lord is”, he said…..He then goes on to say something is bound to go wrong but I guess that was pretty optimistic for him!
