what was Nabokov's notion of the absurd in the overcoat?
the way he was treated at his job, the only reason why he got invited to a party was becaus eof his nice over coat

He believed that the overcoat would change his life and for awhile it did. He's suddenly noticed by co-workers who'd never spoken to him and begins to go out socially. He becomes a different person, he's no longer introverted and unsure of himself............ and poof! The coat is stolen, and the most important thing in his world holds no importance to anyone else. Thus the introvert who'd gained an impressive amount of self-esteem in now seen as a nuisance and a quack. Absurd.......... definitely, but a story well worth reading.
