Do black people continue to be haunted by the legacy of slavery till the present time?

THis is a complex question. Do the effects of the slave-trade linger over generations? I think that certain aspects of the fallout is handed down from generation to generation. I''m skeptical if crime-rates, poverty issues...today can be directly connected to the slave trade but I'm sure the psychological wounds are relevant in some way even today.
