Beowulf

he literary term deus ex machina refers to the improbable and unexpected introduction of a person or device to make things turn out right. In your opinion, does the term apply to Beowulf’s fight with Grendel’s mother? Explain.

“The Monster’s Lair,” “The Battle with Grendel’s Mother,” and “The Last Battle”

I think this might be referring to the sword Beowulf suddenly happens to find that he slays Grendel's mother with. Where did the sword come from? There was no mention of it before. This might be an example of deus ex machina.
