How do you think you would have reacted to Beowulf's death if you had been one of his subjects?

This question calls for your opinion. There is no right or wrong answer. If I were one of Beowulf's subjects, I'd likely mourn the death of a great and courageous king. I'd also accept the changed based upon the fact Beowulf was getting older. Kings do not live forever. We can only hope that they've prepared their successor well.
