Is beowulf an ideal hero and king?

Beowulf certainly fits the criterion of both. For a hero he (before he is king) serves those above him, seems to have a connection with the Gods and routinely performs superhuman feats in battle. He fights for glory and vanquishes evil. I'm hard pressed to find anything lacking in the super Viking as king or soldier of the people.
