Beowulf's speech sounds like a resume with a heavy dose of bravado. Beowulf recounts his many heroic deeds, acts of courage and valour,

"They had seen me boltered in the blood of the enemies

when I battled and bound five beasts,

raided a troll-next and in the night-sea

laughtered sea-brutes. I have suffered extremes

and avenged the Geats...."

I suppose today this might seem like bragging but back then Beowulf was only trying to pull of a good job interview. He has what they are looking for and Beowulf is prepared to give a history of his work experience. He actually is courageous, brave, strong, clever.......Good thing he got the job!
