The doctor's horse had been out all day, thus he couldn't ride him anymore until he was rested. Beauty, also, had galloped all the way to the doctor's house but had to return with the doctor in order for him to see Mrs. Gordon. According to Beauty, the doctor was heavy... and not a very good rider.
