Richard first becomes aware of separate facilities for black people when.....?

I believe Richaed finally became aware of this in Chapter Six when he took a job as a chore boy. Before going to work, Richard had only heard of prejudice and the relationship between whites and blacks, but it's at this point he begins to experience it.
