Is the way Antonio grows up similar to the way you grew up? Why or why not?

Antonio's childhood was far different than my own. The 1940's was a different time and place, the formality of the Catholic church and the expectation of a younger son to devote his life to the priesthood existed in a far different world than our own. The novel was also set during WWII..... I have never experienced war first hand...... I've never had a brother or and uncle go off to battle and feared they wouldn't return. Nor did I grow up among conflicting cultures and religions. I think my life has been a bit more cut and dry......
