What made the Bride and Leonardo flee together?

Leonardo has been in love with the Bride since he was a child. The Bride, however, wasn't interested, and she encouraged him to marry her cousin instead. Leonardo did so reluctantly, but he is unhappy in his marriage and still dreams of winning the Bride. In the end, the Bride realizes that she doesn't want to be with the bridegroom. Wealth simply isn't enough, and she changes her mind.... she wants Leonardo.
