The description
The novel opens with Taiyo watching laborers load her family’s belongings into moving trucks. She watches her father scream at the movers and laments the loss of her life in Nakuru. Overlooking her city for the last time, Taiyo considers what the future will hold. (Her dreams of a career in music are stalled after Kaelo forbids her from pursuing an opportunity in Mombasa.) After some brief trouble with one of the moving trucks, the family arrives safely in Nasila.
