Would it have been possible for Maureen and Claudia to maintain a frienship if Claudia and Frieda had not argues wit Maureen?

I don't think so....... they befriend her because she's been kind to Pecola and because they think that maybe she will treat them to things (ice-cream). When this doesn't happen they lose interest.
