"The machine turns, turns and must keep on turning-forever. It is death if it stands still." Interpret this quote from the text. What does it mean?
In this world, machines not only maintain society but become a metaphor for society itself. Humans merely keep the machine going. The ideology behind the infinite machine becomes built into the machine itself. The Machine becomes a deity, like Ford. If the machine stops, humanity stops.
