I think Buck's story is actually a happy one. Buck wasn't meant to be a pampered husky. By being "dog knapped" and sent up North, he discovered his own alpha male wolf inside of him. Going through all that trauma gave Buck the tools to join the call of the wild and assert his doggy dominance.
