In the Call of the Wild, Buck experiences the trauma of being ripped from a quiet, life of luxury into a world of beatings and difficult physical labor. He learns to fight for his position, defend himself, and in the end, he learns about love. The title "Call of the Wild" is significant, because with each new experience, Buck is forced to rely on inherent traits, instinct.... the will to survive. As a result, the call of the wild, the instinct to live in complete freedom becomes stronger and louder in his mind, but it isn't until the man he loves no longer lives that he completely embraces the call.
