Buck's actions illustrate his confidence within himself..... his leadership capabilites, and his determination. The club no longer has any effect, Buck wants his own way, and he is willing to put himself in precarious positions in order to have it. Buck knows that to gain power over the pack, he must eliminate Spitz. He knows that in order to gain power over his humans, he must lead the way, force their cooperation without overtly challenging them.
