how does buck's battle with the wolf pack symboloze the completion of his transformtion ?

As Buck challenges the wolf pack, he is showing that he has the strength and cunning to subsist in the wild and lead the wolf pack.  He truly has returned to the wild and will spend the rest of his life working in the place his biological heritage would bring him to.
