Call of the Wild
In the poem " Free Labor" by Frances Ellen Watkins Harper
In "Free Labor," what might the garment stand for?
In "Free Labor," what might the garment stand for?
Iwear an easy garment,
O'er it no toiling slave
Wept tears of hopeless anguish,
In his passage to the grave.
The speaker merely says that his clothes did not come at the expense of a slave.
