Call of the Wild
The Death of the Hired Man by Robert Frost
Suppose Silas had not died at the end of the poem. Do you think Mary would have been able to talk Warren into letting him stay? Why or why not?

I don't think Warren is a bad man. Had Warren seen the extent of Silas's illness he would no doubt have been more compassionate. Silas only wanted to fulfill his obligation both to Warren and the community. Had Silas lived, I think Mary would have instilled a sense of Christian forgiveness within her husband and Silas could have stayed.
