What experiences did Buck have?

Buck has many new experiences in the opening chapters of the novel (Chapter 2). In each case, he is able to adapt. What was each new situation Buck experiences and how does it change him?

Buck learns that there is a definite skill to sledding. He picks up on it right away. He also learns that there is a hierarchy to the dogs and that Spitz is at the top. Buck knows that if he wants to be leader, he will have to kill or defeat Spitz in battle. Buck quickly adapts to the "survival of the fittest" element of his new environment.
