When Buck comes to live with John Thornton, his life changed. What was different?

John Thornton rescues Buck from Hal's cruel whip. Thornton nurses Buck back to health and a real bond of loyalty develops between the two. Unlike his first owner, Judge Miller who also loved Buck, Thornton understood Buck's call to adventure. Together they share many adventures in the Yukon wilderness. As Thornton saves Buck's life, Buck returns the favour a few times over.
