If he had been able to make the choice, do you think John Thornton would have been willing to allow Buck to follow the call and live as a wild animal?

I think Thornton might just have let him go if he understood Buck's need. I'm not sure how empathetic Thornton was to primitive animal longing but he seem to love Buck and want the best for him.
