Who is the narrator? What do we know about him? Why does the impending visit by the blind man disturb him?

The narrator is unnamed. We know his wife has passed away and that her friend (a blind man) is going to spend the night at his house. The narrator is disturbed by the impending visit because his is unnerved and uncomfortable around the man's blindness.

The story tells a blind man named Robert whose the narrator's wife's old friend. Robert's wife, Beulah passed away. Robert was visiting the dead wife's relatives in Connecticut. The narrator and his wife lived nearby, and the narrator's wife has invited Robert to visit their home. The narrator wasn't enthusiastic about a blind man, he never knew about blind people, and also his being blind bothered the narrator.
