why is isabel the innocent archetype?

Issabel is loyal and kind but easily manipulated. She is kind of a Cinderella-figure who doesn't stick up for herself. Ultimately, what is important is not what Ruth's political leanings are rather than if she has what it takes to fight for her freedom.
