Why was Adeline in danger from the communists? Explain how she is saved from them. (Chapter 15)

Adeline is the only member of the family left behind when the Communists enter the city. People are being murdered, and she has no one but the nuns to protect her from the soldiers. Adeline is saved when her Aunt Baba appears to take her to Hong Kong where she will be reunited with her family.
