Simple sentence
In terms of Washington and Franklin, Thoreau's allusion speaks to the bravery and courage of the Founders.... their purpose, their spirit, and their willingness to act. In doing this, Thoreau is making a criticism of some of his peers.... noting they are like children in their innocence and lack of spirit.
