How is Jonathan’s reaction of the loss of the egg-rasher different from that of the man robbed at the Treasury?

Jonathan's reaction differs because he doesn't allow the theft of the egg-rasher money to get him down. He says that he didn't have the money the week before, and he didn't depend on it..... it just disappeared like so many things during the war.
