Explain how has the author has succeeded in caputring the impact of war on people in the story "Old Man at the Bridge".

In my opinion, Hemmingway has done an excellent job portraying the man, who is representative of many. The man doesn't care about the war, he doesn't support either side..... what he supports is the safety of his home, and the care of his animals. He supports life, the life he lives..... not the life being foisted upon him.
