How does Hank Morgan use his status as an outsider to his advantage?

As an outsider, Hank can make himself appear to be most anything.... specifically, a magician or a miracle worker. People don't understand his knowledge, and he opens up an entirely new world to them.... a world that seems impossible. The mysterious stranger creates magic... he's all knowing.
