How did Peter and Kit discover the peel tower?

I am told that it has something to do with the SEND NEWS BY PEEL, but that is only a way to send messages through fruit. Did they pick off the fruit boy or something?

What chapter are you referring to?

They discovered the message in chapter 13 and in chapter 14 they were in the tower, but how did they discover the tower?
