Do you think Neil would have committed suicide if Mr. Keating had never come into his life? Why or why not?

This is speculation. I would probably be inclined to think that Neill would have backed down from his father and not taken any chances. This isn't to say he would have had another kind of breakdown because of his father's pressure.
