In your opinion ,why did Neil commit suicide?

 Neil had a lot of conflict with his father. On top of that, he had a very sensitive artistic personality. Being sent to military school was like a death knell for Neil. Neil lived for the moment and attending military school seemed like an eternity. I also think that suicide was the only way Neil knew how to get back at his father; suicide was the only thing Neil felt he had control of in his life.
