Dear Martin
What did the media want people to think about Justyce? What does this part of the book show us about how the media influences the public discourse, especially with issues of race?

In Dear Martin, Nic Stone portrays the media as something that has a tremendous amount of influence over the way people talk and think about current events. Unfortunately media is seldom objective. It gives "news" to cater to the demographic that is paying for it. Although Justyce did nothing to deserve the police brutality, the media news programs suggest that Justyce is a dangerous offender with gang affiliations insinuating that he provoked the officers that attacked him.
