Blacks were allowed to fight starting in World War II.
To John T. 53765
Before blacks could fight in the military they first had to be assigned to white units. Shortly after World War Two, President Truman signed the order to integrate Blacks into white units. I think the year was 1946. They fought in combat along side white units during the Korean War.
