What was strange about Howard Green's murder?

Junior tells Easy that Howard Green was killed because he was working for a man named Matthew Teran. Easy recalls that Junior nearly killed him in a brawl years before in Houston, but Mouse intervened. At John's Place, Hattie tells Easy that Coretta has been brutally murdered in the same fashion as Howard Green and that the police are interrogating Dupree.
