Christ's words on the cross state that 'Jesus answered him, "Truly I tell you, today you will be with me in paradise."' I find no version of the text, Luke 23:43 that alludes to "right now", as both Jesus and the robber were still alive when this is said. There are varying interpretations as to what "today" means..... whether it literally means today, or whether it means, "I'm telling you today that in the future...."
A belief in Pergutory would allude that Jesus meant "in the future", and that temptation and other stages impede one's journey to Heaven.
