Knight and squire decide to settle in the grass and sleep outside, but their repose is disturbed by a loud sound, as if it were rushing water. Quixote insists upon investigating but Sancho urges him to wait until morning. Sancho secretly ties up Rocinante’s legs so Quixote has to wait until morning to investigate.
