what is the "profound duplicity of life" and "the thorough primitive duality of man" in ur own words?
There is the idea that everybody has a good and evil side to them. In Freudian terms: the Id and the superego. People suppress their primal urges to live in a functioning society. Jekyll wanted to unleash his repressed emotions free from the constraints of Victorian society.
