He tries to reassure Utterson that nothing "untoward" is happening with Hyde, even though Utterson has his suspicions. He assures Utterson that there is no problem and that he (Jekyll) wants to take care of Hyde for as long as necessary. He wants Utterson, his lawyer, to carry out the terms of the will as it is written.
