Was Dr. Jekyll right to continue to experiment on himself? Justify with evidence and examples from the novel.

Jekyll's continuing experimentation becomes a moral issue. Jekyll is aware of his actions as Hyde, and yet he continues to experiment. Hyde indulges in depravity and violence, and yet, Jekyll continues to protect him. Jekyll also understands that he might possibly lose himself.... and yet he continues. Is he right to experiment on himself? Only so far as he is the only one to be hurt..... Jekyll can decide what he's willing to risk for himself. Unfortunately, his experimentation doesn't only affect him, it affects others. Thus, in my opinion, his experimentation is wrong.
