What characters would you choose to be your friend and why?

I personally would only want to know those characters who see the Jekyll side of the character rather than the Hyde.  But I only want to know Jekyll and not his interest in that which is mystical and somewhat sordid and base.  Therefore, I would also prefer Dr. Lanyon who is the rational man who also does not believe in any of the "craziness" which goes along with the transformation into Hyde and who would not acknowledge that people have such a side to their personalities.
