Why was Dr.Jekyll able to turn into Mr.Hyde without the special drug mixture but he could not change from Mr.Hyde back to Dr.Jekyll unless he had the drug?

Mr. Hyde had begun to take over Jekyll's mind and body. Jekyll had pushed the envelope so often that Hyde began to appear without provocation. It was easier to turn than to turm back.
